This episode is a conversation between Nick, Lloydie, David and Marilyn about the things they really love in improvised comedy. PLUS, there’s an interview with Lucas Hazlett, performer at the People’s Improv Theater, New York.
If you’d like to contribute thoughts, comments or ideas to the podcast, please comment wherever you read this or send us an email at missimpnottingham@gmail.com. You can send it in audio format if you like and we’ll play it and pretend we’re having a conversation.
While a bunch of our team are off in Birmingham taking our own special brand of improv to Improv Slam! and hopefully to victory in a four way improv war, the rest of us can take advantage of the extra time and space to get some more playtime in.
We’re going to draw names out of the hat and play a combination of open scenes and some of the more traditional games we play on stage. We’ll mix up Whose Lines, Alphabet Games, Dubbing and more of our favourites. Oh, and I’ve found the most awesome / dangerous warm up game to play – so come along, we need enough people for that alone!
So come and make the most of the space!
Really important: we are not at TAO Nottingham this week. As with last week’s jam, we’re in the nice place at 39 Stoney St.

MissImp return to The Glee Club to celebrate the end of April (sure, why not?) and the beginning of summer. Yes, it will almost certainly be raining. But that won’t dampen our spirits!
This month we’re throwing Lloydie, Marilyn, Nick, Parky and David onto the stage with Geoff compereing the show. It’s set to be a fine mix of madness, wit and unique silliness. We’re bringing back some games that we haven’t played for a while that are sure to cause our players some pain, for your amusment!
Join us – nothing we do on Friday will ever happen again and we’ll be relying on your inspiring ideas and suggestions to create strange and hilarious characters, comically disturbing situations and unlikely outcomes.
Change? Do we like change? Yes.
This month (and for all shows to come) we’re on an hour later in the evening – so the doors open at 8pm now. We’re trying to remember that ourselves… It does mean some of our players get to eat before the show which is probably a good thing. It also means you get to eat and drink before the show too!

As promised, this week’s blog post provides the answers to last week’s film noir quiz. The quiz was prompted by the tribute to film noir at the TCM Classic Movie Festival, which ended Sunday, but good movie dialogue has been on my mind since teaching Citizen Kane in my film studies class a couple of weeks ago. We were discussing Mr.
Some great dialogue from Film Noir - one of my favourite film and literature genres. The words just bounce up at you - gritty and witty. This lot is perfect for getting into character. Enjoy:
“Lets all get emotional jam” aims to start our games with an emotional drip, then heighten those emotions into a flood.
