Improv Comedy for Teenagers
Tonight we begin a brave and awesome experiment – teaching improv to the teenagers of Nottingham.
Why would you want to do it?
It’s the best possible thing you can do for fun and we think that if you start doing improv when you’re young you won’t just be good at improv later you’ll be better than we can ever hope to be. It helps to develop fantastic skills: confidence is probably top of the list, along with public speaking and stage performance; it encourages you to think quickly and to pay attention. Improv makes you better at everything. If you’re already interested in acting, stand up comedy or writing improv is a perfect complement. It teaches narrative, characters, how to be funny and how to work with others.
That’s why Nick and Nick (confusing, and yet convenient) will be welcoming young people aged between 13-17 to take part in a workshop each week which you can attend as often as you want to. No matter how many or how few people turn up we’ll be playing games and exploring how to create sketches, scenes and characters. You will love it.
Thursday afternoons 5.00 – 7.00pm starting 4 October 2012
