We’ve all been there – trying to be interesting when, whoops, you’re in the corporate rat race. In improv, it’s really easy to define everything in a scene with the words “thanks for coming, take a seat”. But then, there’s a little voice in your head that whispers, “whelp, I better behave or I wont get the job”, and a small part of your soul saps away…

WELL NOT ANY MORE! We’re going to look at being an expert and an interviewer. It’s a wonderful dynamic, and it doesn’t need to be between an interviewer and interviewee: it could just be two people in the pub, like Peter Cook and Dudley Moore, it could be a politician and a reporter, it could be royalty and their vizier, you and your mum… The trick is to jump in and justify the hell out of whatever comes up and avoid waffling.

For a bit of a dark example here’s Chris Morris and Peter Cook:

Notice how Morris is relentlessly throwing things at Cook, while Cook is just trying to keep up with whatever he’s agreed to? Have i mentioned Peter Cook? Peter Cook was good at this.

Peter Cook. Peter Cook. Peter Cook. Peter Cook.
