Order! The Improvised Pirate Trial – Saturday 16th June 2018

Order! The Improvised Pirate Trial

Saturday 16th June 2018

Gaargh, ye scurvy dogs! There’s an improvised pirate trial every half hour from 11.30am-3.30pm at the Furthest From the Sea Festival in Derby! We’re taking our sell-out show from the National Justice Museum onto the high seas this weekend. Completely family and pirate friendly, we’re delighted to be rocking a big tent in Derby Market Place!

What’s the naughtiest thing you’ve ever done?
What’s the meanest thing you’ve ever said?
What’s the most guilty you’ve ever felt?

Join us in Derby for Order!  Based on your confession, we’ll put a pirate on trial for YOUR crimes. Maybe you untied someone’s hammock… Perhaps you called the captain a rude word… The performers won’t know their crime until they get to the dock, and the judge doesn’t know the punishment.

Each trial is a unique and hilarious experience, never to be seen again after the audience decides the fate of the poor defendant.

On Saturday 16th June, Derby comes alive with creativity at the annual Furthest from the Sea Music, Comedy & Arts Festival, taking place between 11am and 4pm on the Market Place in Cathedral Quarter Derby

Showcasing and celebrating the diverse local arts scene, the festival aims to encourage people of all ages to get involved and discover everything Derbyshire has to offer through a series of interactive workshops, family friendly performances and newly commissioned street theatre.

It’s SMASH NIGHT, let’s get wrecking!

Never-seen-before… Never-to-be-seen-again! Watch in amazement as some of the finest improv teams around live life on the edge, experiment and push the boundaries of what they do with hilarious results! Witness them take to the stage with nothing but their wits and transform YOUR suggestions spontaneously into scenes and stories bound to be breath-taking and bloody hilarious.

We’ve got another extraordinary show for you this week – the debut performance of MissImp’s all-female Harold team, The Vortex, plus the guys from MonkeyHeads with something you’ll need to see to believe.

What more could you want from a Wednesday?

This week’s line-up:

The Vortex

The Monkey-Meisner Mashup
Duncan and Colin from MonkeyHeads will be performing the Monkey-Meisner Mashup! It’s an organic form, creating scenes that are often closer to surreal than a gag-fest, yet often get laughs too.

And always… The Smash Night Social Club
Our in-house team is a revolving cast of longtime vets of the improv scene. This ragtag collection of comedy cowboys play fast ’n’ loose with the rules (and their metaphors), throw off the hand brake, and whisk you away to a place you never dreamed of.

SMASH NIGHT at The Angel Microbrewery – Wednesday 28 February 2017

Sod the snow: it’s SMASH NIGHT!

Never-seen-before… Never-to-be-seen-again! This week’s line-up:

Mark Craig’s Me Plus One
Mark has been performing on stage since the age of eight, and in all that time has managed to slightly improve. For the past ten years, this performing has mainly been improv and so far no one has put a stop to it. Based in Edinburgh, Mark regularly teaches improv to anyone who’ll listen and is a member of To Be Continued…, The Spontaneous Players, Four Folks Ache and any other group that needs an extra body onstage.
Tonight he will be joined on stage in a one-off twoprov that reunites him with Missimp’s own Lloydie!!

The Vox Pops
Each show they have a monologist (storyteller, to you and me) who will tell us a true story from their lives which The Vox Pops will then unpack to reveal the real meaning of the story through a cavalcade of characters and a smorgasbord of scenes. The truth has never been funnier.
