Every Thursday throughout this ongoing coronavirus pandemic we’re switching to online activities for our improv community.
Based on the success of our first video workshop, we want to seize this opportunity to support the improv scene in Nottingham, the UK, and around the world. We’re therefore taking the £30 we would normally spend on room hire on a Thursday evening to pay improvisers from Nottingham and beyond to lead a virtual drop-in every Thursday instead!

What we’re looking for
- Ten to twenty-minute videos offering a combination of fun and engaging warm-ups, exercises, games, tips and techniques to develop and practice general or specific improv skills.
- You don’t need any editing experience – all you need is an idea for a workshop! Our resident video and audio editor Emily Brady will happily edit all of your content together into one coherent video. You just need to record yourself, and we’ll do the rest (unless you really want to do some editing).
- Each video will go live on a Thursday at 19:30 GMT just like a normal drop-in, except on YouTube (and posted on our website here, and shared on Facebook, Twitter and so on). All the videos will be shared publicly, to be used by anyone, anywhere.
- We especially encourage videos that are more active or word-based (e.g. accents, Shakespeare) – obviously scene work is tricky at the moment! That said, we would be excited by any bright or unusual ideas to do something else! Our current plan is to do one video per week, alternating between Nottingham-based improvisers and teachers from further afield.
If you are interested in running a drop-in, please email virtuallyimprov@missimp.co.uk and we will discuss your idea!
